Central Arkansas Couples-Abbigail and John

Engagement Session 2024

Abbigail and John's session was truly a special occasion to photograph. I met Abbigail when I joined my husband's family a couple years ago. Abbigail is one of the friendliest, most genuine girls I have met. From when she first introduced herself, she treated me like one of the family and even called me, "sis." I met John for the first time at the shoot and he was nothing short (he's also really tall) of hospitable and easy to talk to.

We chose to take pictures on my in-law's home located right outside Beebe, Arkansas. They have several wooded acres that joins our land and my sister and brother-in-law's property. The weather was perfect for the shoot (minus the bug I accidentally swallowed mid-shoot.) That definitely made things exciting (typed in the most sarcastic tone.) We made our way down to my sister and brother-in-law's dock overlooking a small pond. I had taken several portrait shoots on the dock, but never a couple. Let me tell you, the vibes were immaculate! John and Abbigail's outfits blended so well with the green tones of the trees, and wood boards of the dock. Their height difference made the photos so dreamy with Abbigail having to stand on her tip-toes for some of them. After the dock we walked to the front of the house and took the more intimate pictures.

The best thing about this session was the lack of posing and prompts I had to give. Don't get me wrong, I love giving clients fun poses and prompts- it's kind of my job! But the way John would lean over and whisper in Abbigail's ear and how they held each other while I clicked away. I always try to tell my couples at the beginning of the session, "Don't act like I'm here. Just do your thing!" Abbigail and John were experts at this and that's why their photos turned out to be so DREAMY! With the leaves rustling in the trees and the gentle wind giving the movement to Abbigail's hair and dress, these beautiful photos were taken. We ended the session sitting down on some picnic tables while we talked about their future and getting close up shots of her very sparkly ring. I am so excited to shoot their wedding at the end of November and capture their love all over again.
